The First Uganda National Spelling Bee Competition is an exciting contest in which Secondary school children all over Uganda will compete in spelling English words. Though wildly popular in many countries worldwide, it is a novelty in Uganda.

The thrilling competition will be watched on television by millions of Ugandans throughout 2012.

The Spelling Bee Pilot took place on Saturday 4th June, 2011 at Uganda Martys High School-Lubaga. The one-hour event saw big words being crunched by the contestants.

A campaign dubbed “Teenz Involved” was successfully concluded. Teenagers in secondary schools in and around Kampala generously donated items to the unfortunate flood victims of Bududa.
